Golf for Hospice Tournament raises $31,125
Guthrie held its eighth annual Golf for Guthrie Hospice Tournament on June 25 at The Club at Shepard Hills. This year's event raised $31,125 for Guthrie Hospice through the support of many local and regional businesses and individuals. The title sponsor again this year was Williams Auto Group.
All proceeds from the tournament benefit Guthrie Hospice, which provides end-of-life services for patients and their families throughout the region as well as bereavement services in the community. Guthrie Hospice provides services to all who request them, regardless of their ability to pay. The mission of the tournament is to raise funds for Guthrie Hospice to enhance and support hospice programs and services, as well as offset the expenses related to caring for indigent patients. The tournament has been successful in raising nearly $219,600 since its inception in 2003.
More than 200 sponsors and donors and 40 foursomes contributed to this year's event. In addition to the first-third place winners listed below, the following teams/individuals won awards as well:
* Middle Place: American Food & Vending - Jim DeGennaro, Dan Earl, Zach Sitzman, Andy Watkins
* Last Place - Hospice 1 - Janet Hatch, Rebecca Polly, Linda Raub, Ann Walsh
* Closest to the Pin No. 16 - Matt Kemp and Laurie Kaminsky
* Closest to the Pin No. 7 - Kevin Horn and Staci Covey

Putting contests, hole-in-ones, 50/50 drawings, special raffles, and skins were also offered during the tournament. To help raise additional funds, a live auction was held in which the autographed sports memorabilia was auctioned. The Golf for Guthrie Hospice Tournament committee thanks all of the sponsors, donors and volunteers who contributed to this year's tournament.
