Hallett gets 100th win as Waverly caps season with win
WAVERLY, N.Y. - The Wolverines wrapped up their regular season with a 117-40 victory over Southern Cayuga, winning every event on the day.
Waverly honored seniors Zach Rynone, James Rynone and Jeff Mastrantuono in the victory. The trio combined their efforts the past six years to accumulate over 600 wins and that continued Monday as Jeff and James were quadruple winners and Zach was a triple winner.
Hallett won four events on the day, giving him 100 wins for his career, and eighth grader Josh Mastrantuono had three wins and set a new eighth grade record in the 200 IM and just missing eighth grade records in the leadoff leg of relays with the 50 free and 100 free.
Nick Peterson set a new pool record in the diving as he scored a personal best 176.25 to move up to No. 9 on Waverly's top 25. Eighth grader Brody Sprague scored a person best of 96.05 to move into the No. 25 spot.
Zach and James Rynone, Hallett and Michael Girolamo won the 200 medley relay in 1:53.30 and Jeff Mastrantuono won the 200 free in 1:58.61, followed by Anthony Girolamo in 2:18.02.
In the 200 IM Josh Mastrantuono won in 2:19.69, followed by Tanner Burt (2:36.53) and Michael Girolamo (2:47.23).
Hallett won the 50 free in 23.63 with Caleb Jenkins taking third in 27.48.
Peterson won the diving followed by Sprague.
IN the 100 fly Zach Rynone won in 1:03.19 and in the 100 free James Rynone won in 53.33, followed by Josh Mastrantuono in 54.18.
Jeff Mastrantuono won the 500 free in 5:28.34 and Brandon Whitley took third in 6:48.22.
Jeff Mastrantuono, Jenkins, Josh Mastrantuono and James Rynone won the 200 free relay in 1:40.94 and In the 100 back Hallett won in 1:00.33 followed by Zach Rynone in 1:03.53.
James Rynone won the 100 breast in 1:09.50, followed by Burt (1:12.23) and Anthony Girolamo (1:18.24).
Jeff and Josh Mastrantuono, Hallett and Zach Rynone won the 400 free relay in 3:54.08.
Waverly hosts the IAC Championships on Saturday. Diving starts at 10 a.m. and swimming at 1 p.m.
Waverly will also host the Class C sectional championships on Saturday, Feb. 18 at 1:30 p.m.
