Hughesville tops Williamson

The Spartans scored falls in seven of their nine wins as they defeated Williamson 48-24 in District IV Duals wrestling action Wednesday.

The Warriors got two falls out of their five wins. Logan Everett (132) pinned Jake Fry in 2:32 while Carl Gorg (106) pinned Hughesville's Aaron Frisch in 2:29.

At 126 Trevor McWhorter scored a 16-0 technical fall in 4:08 over Hughesville's Devin Stalnecker while at 120 Williamson's Tyrus Hamblin scored an 18-5 major decision over Hughesville's Houston Bryant.

Williamson's last win was by Billy Barnes at 138, a 3-2 decision over Hughesville's Dakota Nixon.

For the Spartans Brad Poust (195), Matt Dill (220), Derek Earnest (285), Kurt Hiller (182), Ethan Barnes (160), Matt Herr (152) and Kyle Barnes (145) all had falls.

At 113, Matt Heinrich scored a 4-2 decision over Williamson's Herman Briggs while at 170, Hughesville's Robert White edged Williamson's RC Hunter 7-4.

Hughesville faces Central Columbia on Saturday.
