IUP scored three late goals, including an overtime game-winner, to rally past Mansfield 3-2 in PSAC field hockey action Tuesday afternoon at Karl Van Norman Field.

With the win, IUP avenges a 2-1 overtime loss to the Mounties on Sept. 18.

The Mountaineers quickly got on the board after Taryn Schawillie took a long pass from Lacey Croasdale and put it past the Crimson Hawk goalie just 19 seconds into the game. The goal was Schawillie's team-leading 10th of the season.

Mansfield's 1-0 lead would stand through halftime with outstanding play by keeper Kristie Rollman and the Mountaineer defense despite IUP holding a 9-3 shots advantage.

Croasdale put the Mounties up 2-0 after backhanding a Kayla Grunza pass into goal just minutes into the second half. Croasdale currently ranks second on the team in points with 11.

However, fueled by Casey McGowan's successful penalty strike attempt in the 57th minute, the Crimson Hawks came charging back and eventually tied the game after Kate Bruce deflected a shot over the keeper in the 61st minute. The goals were the sixth of the season for both McGowan and Bruce.

Neither side could push across another goal in regulation as the game carried into overtime tied at 2-2.

Both teams had penalty corner opportunities in the opening minutes of overtime, but neither were able to convert.

IUP ended the game after five minutes of play with Dani Edwards scoring from five yards out on a Chelsea Wanamaker pass.

The Mountaineers welcome MU alum and first-year head coach Marci (Lippert) Scheuing to town when they host Kutztown on Saturday.
