Mansfield's Joe Candelmo and Brandon Miller have been named to All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern division 2nd team baseball honors in voting conducted amongst the conference head coaches and released today.

Miller started all 50 games at shortstop in his first season with the Mountaineers where he hit for a .300 average. The junior collected 48 hits in 160 at bats while ranking third in the PSAC in walks with 25. Miller was second on the team in runs scored with 34 and on base percentage at .407.

A solid defender, Miller allowed just eight errors in 198 attempts for a .960 fielding percentage. His 137 assists were the second most in the conference this season.

As the ace of the Mountie's pitching staff, Candelmo finished the 2013 season with a 4-4 record and a 3.97 ERA. The lefty tied for ninth in the PSAC for complete games with five and went at least 5.2 innings in each of his 10 appearances.

Most impressive was Candelmo's command of the strike zone. In 65.2 innings of work, the senior issued just ONE walk while his average of 0.14 walks allowed per nine innings currently leads all NCAA Division I, II and III pitchers this season. Candelmo's average breaks an 11-year old NCAA Division II record set by UC Davis' Trevor Thompson who allowed 0.27 walks per nine innings (2 in 66.1 innings) in 2002.
