Wysox native Lori Kingsley, 43, competed in Melbourne, Fla. on Sunday, Feb. 7. The United States of America Track and Field Association hosted the event to find out who were the fastest men and women in America (over age 40) at the 13.1 mile distance. Kingsley topped the field placing first with a time of 1:20:32. Second place was 41 year old Marybeth Reader from Bloomfield Missouri with a time of 1:21:54. Kingsley pocketed the $1,000 first prize.

As if that were not amazing enough, Running Times magazine listed their top Master's runners in their latest issue. This year's top masters runners were selected with emphasis given to age grading times, head to head competition, performances in prestigious races where serious competition can be expected, as well as the number of races and variety of distances run.

The top three women were Colleen De Reuck (CO), Anzhelika Averkova (UKR), and Sylvia Mosqueda (CA). Kingsley earned honorable mention status among this elite group. Basically, Running Times magazine chose Kingsley as one of the top 12 female runners age 40-44 in the world for the 2009 season.
