Late three pushes Williamson past Canton; Mansfield, Wyalusing win

CANTON - A late three by Williamson's McKenna Greenwalt pushed her team past Canton 49-48 in cross-over NTL girls' basketball action Monday.

Williamson led 18-12 after the opening quarter but Canton cut it to 27-26 at the half. Then both teams scored 22 points in the second half.

Nikki Hurler led Williamson with 18 points while Kim Daugherty added 10. Greenwalt netted nine while Cheyenne Jones and Lori Horton had six points each.

Becca Machmer led Canton with 16 points and 14 rebounds while Kaitlin Meyer added 11 points, seven boards and six steals.

Rachel Holmes netted seven points while Makenzy Route had five points off the bench. Jada Smith added four points and three boards, Morgan Palmer and Kellsy Ross had two points a piece with Sarah Bly rounding out the scoring with a point.

Canton won the JV game 33-25 behind 14 points from Ross.

The Warriors travel to Wellsboro Wednesday.

Mansfield 43, Troy 16

After a low scoring first quarter the Tigers pushed out for the win in NTL girls' cross-over play Monday.

Troy led 5-3 after the opening quarter but Mansfield went on a 19-2 run in the second to pull away.

Molly Wood had nine points and nine boards to lead the Tigers while Simone Lichty netted eight. Emily James and Jackie Hillson had seven points each with Hillson adding seven rebounds.

Maddie York scored six, Erin Dempsey had four while Felicia Bolt netted two.

Mansfield won the JV game.

The Tigers travel to Wyalusing Wednesday.

Wyalusing 69, North Penn 41

The Rams jumped out 23-9 in the first quarter but the Panthers hung tough in the second, holding Wyalusing to nine points.

A 24-point third quarter pushed the Rams to the NTL girls' cross-over win Monday.

Alexis Daly had 20 points to lead Wyalusing while Kasey Devoir added nine. Arielle Kneller and Kayleen Sutton had eight points each, Laci Holdren and Courtney Eberlin netted six each while Mackenzie Martin and Savannah Schools had four points a piece. Sydney Snyder and Ali DeVoir had two points each.

Freshman Kaitlyn Gavverick led North Penn with 12 points while fellow freshman Whitney Holdren netted seven.

Jen Vlagic scored six, Chelsea Moran netted five, Rebecca Toothaker had four, Meredith Kline scored three while Cassie Frederick and Mariah Berguson notched two points each.

Wyalusing won the JV game.

North Penn hosts Athens on Wednesday.
