The Liberty tennis team edged Wellsboro 4-3 on Wednesday.

Wellsboro's Ashley Evans won 6-2, 1-6, 6-2 over Noelle Payne at first singles and Wellsboro's Taylor Russell won 7-6 (7-1), 0-6, 6-2 over Jourdyn Buckheit at second singles.

Liberty's Katey McCloskey won 6-1, 6-1 over Kiana Acorn at third singles and Liberty's Savannah Alexyn won 6-4, 6-1 over Brianna Quimby at fourth singles, while Wellsboro's Brittany Redell won 6-2, 6-3 over Randi Young at fifth singles.

In doubles, Payne and McCloskey won 1-6, 6-4, 11-9 over Evans and Russell at first doubles and Buckheit and Alexyn won 6-3, 6-1 over Acorn and Raisa Rogers at second doubles.

Liberty is 9-8 and Wellsboro is 5-9.

The Indians swept the first four singles matches 6-0, 6-0 on their way to the victory Wednesday.

Blair Williams beat Kim Tulanowski at first singles, Hayley Painter topped Brooke Gottwald at second singles, Marisa Kump beat Anna Copp at third singles and Courtney Schauer won over Danielle Bolt at fourth singles.

In fifth singles McKenzi Sweet won 6-1, 6-0 over Kim Wilber.

Schauer and Deb Beiser won 6-1, 6-1 over Tulanowski and Gottwald at first doubles and Jessica Prutsman and Lauren Johnson won 6-1, 6-0 over bolt and Thea Doty at second doubles.

CV is 14-3 and Williamson is 0-15.
