Lopes hits NCAA mark, several Mounties hit PSAC qualifying times at Golden Flash and Ithaca Invites
Olivia Lopes hit an NCAA mark while several other Mounties qualified for the PSAC Championships as the Mansfield University indoor track teams were in action Saturday afternoon at the Golden Flash Gala and the Ithaca Quad Meet.
Lopes, a sophomore, recorded an NCAA provisional qualifying time in the 200m at 25.36. She also hit PSAC qualifying marks in the 60m at 7.87 and in the 400m at 58.76.
Bob McCoy and Latimere Campbell both earned trips to the PSAC Championships in the 400m Saturday. McCoy finished at 50.78 while Campbell came in at 50.99.
Jalyn McCoy qualified for the conference meet in the 800m with a personal best mark of 1:59.11.
Michael Leiwant and Courtney Wilson each ran personal best times in the 300m and 200m respectively.
Jeyson Jones came up just short of PSAC-qualifying times in the 60m and 200m events. He was 0.02 seconds short in the 60m and 0.07 seconds in the 200m.
In Ithaca, North Penn graduate Jake Shedden won the 3,000m race with his time of 9:11.27. Shedden held off two runners from Oneonta who finished just four seconds behind him.
Kristy Scoridino took second in the 1,000m at 3:03.25 while Savannah Boucher came in fourth at 3:08.96.
Kait Chegwidden finished fourth in the mile with her time of 5:34.12.
Waverly graduate Will Mullen and Jesse Jones were fourth and fifth respectively in the men's mile run. Mullen came in at 4:30.47 while Jones finished at 4:30.84.
Troy graduate Alexa Tsiknas tied for second in the women's pole vault with a height of 3.15m while Tyler Savarese took fourth in the men's vault at 4.40 meters. Both qualified for the PSAC Championships at last week's Cornell Invite.
