The Mansfield University softball team moved up to seventh place in the latest NCAA Divison II Atlantic Region poll released today by the NCAA.

Mansfield, which won three of four games against No. 3 Lock Haven and No. 8 Bloomsburg last week to clinch a share of the PSAC Central title, will need to remain in at least the seventh spot following this week's PSAC playoffs.

While the top eight teams advance to the regional round of the National Championship Tournament, the eighth spot will be filled by the CIAA Champion. There are no CIAA teams currently in the poll knocking at least one of the existing teams out of the regional tournament.

Mansfield dropped an opening round game to No. 1 California by a score of 6-2 in PSAC playoffs on Wednesday and will have to face Shippensburg, the No. 2 team in the poll on Thursday morning.

Bloomsburg beat Shippensburg at the PSAC playoff on Wednesday.
