TOWANDA - The Mansfield boys pulled away in the fourth quarter and then held on for a 39-36 win over Athens in the title game of the junior high boys' basketball tournament on Saturday.

Mansfield got seven points each from Brock Burleigh and J.P. Shaw in the fourth.

Athens got a three with 1.6 seconds left to cut the deficit to three and then they forced a turnover to get one last chance to force overtime. However, Their final shot came up short.

Shaw led Mansfield with 24 points in the win and Burleigh had seven, while Joe Creamer had six and Joel Whitteker had two.

Athens was led by Matt Collins with 12 and Kalen Keathley with nine.

Ethan Lane had six for Athens and Joe Horn had five. Braden Priester and Cory Stivason finished with two points each.

Northeast Bradford topped North Penn 37-34 in the third-place game.
