Mansfield women's track team moves up to 11th in latest regional rankings
The Mansfield University women's track and field team has shown a huge jump in the regional rankings over the past few weeks.
Mansfield was ranked 28th in the USTFCCCA Atlantic Regional rankings two weeks ago have vaulted to 11th place in this week's ranks, just six points from breaking into the top ten.
A trio of talented performers has been responsible for much of that spurt.
Grad student Brenae Edwards, and juniors Savannah Boucher and Jess Scordino have blazed the way with NCAA Championship provisional qualifying times in six events.
Edwards has hit qualifying marks in the 1500 (4:40.58), 5000 (16:45.35) and 10,000 (34:51.66). Scordino has qualified in the 5000 meters (16:59.42) and 10,000 (35:04.48) while Boucher qualified in the steeplechase (11:06.51).
Mansfield is ranked ahead of PSAC rivals Bloomsburg (12), Millersville (14), West Chester (16), California (19), Lock Haven (20), Clarion (23) and Cheyney (26).
The Mountaineers will compete at the PSAC Championship this Friday and Saturday in Millersville.
