Marple leads LeMoyne past MU women
Katie Fitzpatrick recorded a team-high 16 points and nine boards but the Mountaineers fell on the road to LeMoyne 83-67 Saturday night in non-conference action.
Wellsboro graduate Alex Marple led five Dolphins in double-figure scoring with a game-high 21 points including four 3-pointers.
Megan McSwain scored 15 points and had five rebounds with Jena Matter and Alyssa DeRichie each adding 12 points for the Mountaineers.
Turnovers hurt Mansfield (0-2, 0-0 PSAC) who totaled 23 in the game to Le Moyne's 12. The Dolphins capitalized on the Mountaineer's mistakes, scoring 30 points off turnovers.
Mansfield scored the first bucket of the game on a DeRichie trey and led by five points just two minutes into the game, but Le Moyne (3-0, 0-0 NE-10) rallied to take over the lead three minutes later. With nine minutes left in the game, the Dolphins built their lead to double-digits on a Marple 3-pointer.
Le Moyne led by as much as 15, but the Mounties stormed back with nine unanswered points to cut their deficit to 34-28 with five minutes remaining in the half. Le Moyne took a 43-32 lead into the break.
It was all Le Moyne in the second half as the home team led by as many as 22 points. The Mounties could pull no closer than 13 points in the second half.
Mansfield opens PSAC Eastern division play when it travels to East Stroudsburg on Wednesday, Nov. 20.
