The Mansfield University softball team has been selected to finish fourth in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Central division according to the 2013 preseason coaches' poll. The poll, which is voted on by the head softball coaches in the conference, was announced today by the PSAC office.

Bloomsburg University was selected to finish atop the Central division standings, receiving all five first place votes. Defending divisional champion Lock Haven University was tabbed to finish second followed by IUP and Mansfield. Clarion University rounds out the list.

Head coach Edith Gallagher enters her 22nd season at the helm of the Mountaineer program.

Mansfield returns 13 players from last year's squad that finished the season with a 20-15 overall mark and a 7-9 conference record. Mansfield's seven divisional wins last season was the most since the 2008 campaign.

The Mountaineers open their season at the Shaw University Softball Challenge on Friday, Feb. 15 against West Liberty University.
