Mounties fall on the road to Bloomsburg
The Mansfield University women's soccer team came up just short in a 1-0 decision on the road to Bloomsburg University in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action Wednesday night.
The Mountaineers had three shots and a corner kick in the first 17 minutes, but were unable to capitalize on the opportunities.
Bloomsburg's (6-9-1, 4-8-1 PSAC) Kyleigh Reckage scored what proved to be the only goal of the game on a breakaway in the 21st minute. Tara Huber was credited with the assist on the play.
The Huskies recorded 17 total shots with 10 going on goal while Mansfield (3-11-2, 4-8-1 PSAC) totaled five shots with two on goal.
Senior Alexis Wilhelm stymied the Huskie offense for much of the game, recording nine saves for the second straight outing. Junior Lauren Boess and freshman Kelsey Chapman each put shots on goal in the contest.
The Mountaineers host Edinboro University for Senior Day at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27 in their final game of the season.
