Mansfield led with just over nine minutes to play in the first half, but Division I Buffalo was too much, as the Mountaineers fell with a final score of 76-57 Saturday night at Alumni Arena in front of a crowd of 2,983.

Buffalo's Will Regan led all scorers with 15 points.

Joe Bell paced three Mounties in double-figure scoring with his 13 points on the night. The Sophomore shot 50% (5-10) from the floor and recorded a team-high five rebounds.

Senior Chuck Harper and junior Charles Becoats each went four-of-eight from the field and had a pair of free throws to total 10 points. Becoats dished out five assists in the game.

Bell opened up the game with a step-back 3-pointer as the Mountaineers took the early lead. Both sides traded leads over the next several minutes with Harper hitting a pair of free throws to put Mansfield up two points with less than ten minutes to play.

However, a physical Buffalo offense used a 27-4 run over the final nine minutes of the half to hold a 50-29 advantage into the break.

In the second half, Mansfield closed within 18 points, but was unable to overcome Buffalo's large lead.

The Bulls shot 48.4% (30-62) from field goal to Mansfield's 41.7% (20-48). Buffalo was hot from beyond the arc in the first half with six 3-pointers, but added just one more in the second half.

The Mountaineers took advantage of their free throw opportunities as they went 12-of-13. Onyema Utti was a perfect five-for-five from the charity stripe as the junior went on to score nine points in the game.

The Mountaineers open PSAC play on Saturday, Dec. 1 when they welcome Edinboro to Decker Gymnasium.
