MANSFIELD - Joe Bell and Onyema Utti combined for 37 points to lead the Mountaineers past visiting Shippensburg 74-66 Saturday afternoon in a physical PSAC East match-up at Decker Gymnasium.

Bell connected on 8-of-13 from the floor on his way to a game-high 19 points in the winning effort. Utti hit 6-of-8 from the field and was a perfect 6-of-6 from the free throw line to total 18 points. Utti's 18 points matches his season high scored at Roberts Wesleyan in the season opener.

Junior Kevonte McClain came off the bench to score 13 points for the Mounties. The 6-foot-6 forward was 2-of-4 from beyond the arc in the game.

Freshman Kamil Parzych netted seven points and recorded a career-high five assists for the second straight outing. Junior Charles Becoats had a career-high five steals while adding six points.

The Mountaineers shot 52.9 percent (27-51) from the field as a team and held a 31-26 rebounding advantage in the game.

Mansfield scored the first eight points of the game and held a 15-6 lead just under five minutes into the game. But the Raiders used a 10-1 run over the next six minutes to knot the game at 16 points apiece.

A McClain trey with four minutes remaining in the half gave Mansfield a seven point advantage, but Shippensburg kept the game tight with the Mounties taking a 35-32 lead into halftime.

In the second half, Mansfield rebuilt its lead back to seven points at the 13:13 mark. The Raiders went on another run to tie the game at 52-52 with just over eight minutes to play. Shippensburg managed to keep it within a two-possession ball game over the next seven minutes, but the Mounties never gave up their lead.

Mansfield was clutch from the free throw line down the stretch going 10-of-12 over the final four minutes of the game.

With the win, the Mountaineers snapped a seven-game losing streak that dated back to January 12.

Mansfield travels to No. 13 East Stroudsburg on Wednesday for a 7:30 p.m. tip.
