MU field hockey falls to Slippery Rock
Mansfield's Lacey Croasdale scored her third goal of the season, but it wouldn't be enough as Slippery Rock came away with the 3-1 victory in PSAC field hockey action Wednesday afternoon at Karl Van Norman Field.
Kelsey Gustafson put Slippery Rock (5-7, 1-3 PSAC) on the board first with a Kaili Simmons penalty corner pass. The goal was Gustafson's third of the season.
The Rock outshot Mansfield (3-7, 0-4 PSAC) 12-8 in the first half, but was unable to push across another goal.
Early in the second half, Croasdale's goal knotted the game at 1-1 after the junior lifted the ball into the top right corner of goal from five-yards out.
However, The Rock went on to score two unanswered goals to put the game away. Erika Rohrback scored the first in the 58th minute before Megan McKay notched the second in the 64th minute.
Mountie keeper Kristie Rollman recorded 13 saves in goal while Sarah Zwick and Jessi Swingle were each credited with a defensive save.
The Rock held a 22-13 shots advantage with penalty corners tied at 11 each.
The Mountaineers are back in action on Saturday when they travel to East Stroudsburg.
