Despite a game-high 19 points by Charles Pemberton, the Mansfield University men's basketball team could never climb out of an early hole in suffering a 81-69 setback to LeMoyne in a non-conference contest Saturday night

Mansfield (0-2) was ice-cold and LeMoyne was red-hot early in the going with the Dolphins scoring the first nine points of the game before taking a 17-2 lead six minutes into the contest.

LeMoyne (1-1) shot a sizzling 68% from the floor over the first nine minutes of the game while Mansfield struggled with its shooting accuracy hitting just 17% of its shots.

Trailing 24-6, the Mountaineers scored six straight points and closed the gap to 32-22 with five minutes remaining in the first half on a Pemberton layup.

But LeMoyne would counter with an 11-3 run to take a 43-25 advantage into halftime.

For the game, Mansfield shot 41% from the floor while LeMoyne hit 53% of its attempts and was deadly from outside connecting on 10-18 3-pointers.

Pemberton had a strong performance underneath scoring his game-high 19 points while pulling down nine rebounds.

Joe Bell recorded his first double-double of the season with 16 points and 10 rebounds while Charles Becoats added 16 points.

Nate Champion led six LeMoyne players in double-figures with 18 points with Jim Janson adding 16 points.
