MU soccer falls to IUP
The Mansfield University women's soccer team held a shutout in the second half of play, but IUP's three first-half goals lifted the Crimson Hawks to a 3-0 victory in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action Tuesday evening.
IUP's (8-4-2, 5-4-1 PSAC) Brittney Kuhns scored two goals within a few second of each other in the 12th minute to put the Hawks up 2-0 early in the game. Ana-Kate Depaolo gave IUP the 3-0 advantage in the 29th minute when she found the back of goal on a Sharee McCarty corner kick.
Mansfield (2-9-1, 0-8-1 PSAC) keeper Alana Krieger and the Mountie defense kept the Hawk scoreless for the remainder of the first half and the entire second half. Krieger recorded two saves in the contest.
Lauren Boess recorded three shots for Mansfield while Kelsey Chapman had a shot on goal in the contest.
IUP held a 9-6 shot and 6-1 corner advantage in the victory.
Mansfield hosts Clarion Saturday, Oct. 13 as part of the Mountaineers Homecoming weekend. The game is set for a 1:30 p.m. start.
