Mansfield University head women's soccer coach Tim Dempsey has announced that seniors Lauren Boess and Jess Kerwin along with junior Colleen Dempsey, a Mansfield high school graduate, have been selected team captains for the 2013 season.

Boess started all 17 games at midfield for the Mountaineers last season where she led the team in assists and was sixth in points. An exemplary performer off the field as well, Boess is a three-time MU Presidential and PSAC Scholar-Athlete. She is an elementary/special education major.

Kerwin is a three-year starter for the Mountaineers. As a midfield last year, Kerwin shared the assist lead with Boess and was fourth on the team in points. She has started 40 games over her first three seasons at Mansfield. A MU Presidential Scholar-Athlete, Kerwin is majoring in psychology.

Dempsey is a red-shirt junior who has started 29 of 32 games in her first two season with the Mountaineers. Primarily a defender, Dempsey could also see time at midfield or forward this season. An MU Presidential Scholar-Athlete, Dempsey is a political science/organizational communications major.

Mansfield opens the 2013 season at West Chester this Thursday before hosting East Stroudsburg on Saturday at the Soccer Field.
