Area youth baseball players will be able to enjoy the same head start the major leaguers do in training camp by attending some of 11 sessions of the Mansfield University Winter Baseball Clinics offered by the Mansfield University baseball program during the month.

The Mansfield University Winter Baseball Clinics are the oldest and most successful baseball winter clinics in the Twin Tiers offering instruction and hands-on participation in all aspects of the game including hitting, pitching, catching, fielding and coaching.

The popular Hitting Clinics start February 3 forming the bulk of the offerings with 8 sessions, four each for age groups 5-12 and 13-18. The Hitting Clinics are coordinated by Mountaineer Head Coach Harry Hillson. Considered one of the top hitting coaches in the nation, Hillson's Mountaineers are annually one of the top hitting programs in NCAA Division II . All sessions are held in the warm confines of Decker Gymnasium featuring pitching machines and six artificial turfed batting cages.

Cost of the three hours of instruction, cage hitting, drills and tee work is $40 per player.

Two sessions of Pitching and Catching Clinic will held on February 3 for ages 8-12 and 13-18. The three hours of advanced instruction includes live throwing from indoor mounds, drills, throwing competitions, radar gun station ,videotape analysis of pitching delivery and demonstrations by Mansfield University Pitching Coach Andy Chalot and the Mansfield University pitching staff.

Cost of three hours of instruction, throwing and videotaped analysis is $40 per player.

The Preseason Skills, Players& Coaches Little League and Junior League Day Clinic will be held on February 10 and is specifically designed for player ages 6-12 and 13-14 and their coaches. Everyone will receive hands-on instruction in fundamental baseball skills with breakout sessions for both players and coaches. Separate softball players and coaches sessions will also be on tap as well a special T-Ball session. District 15 Little League will also be hosting a umpire clinic.

Cost of the Preseason Skills Clinic is $25 per player. A parent or coach is free with each paid player. Outstanding Team rates are available.
