The holidays may be over but Mansfield University athletics has one more present to give to area fans with free admission for Wednesday night's women's basketball game against Le Moyne.
Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. at Decker Gymnasium.
The game will be broadcast live by Shane Wilber of ESPN Radio Williamsport and be streamed along with live stats at www.GoMounties.com.
Wednesday contest will mark the first game for the Mountaineer women in two weeks after dropping a 64-44 decision at nationally ranked IUP on Dec. 19.
Le Moyne, led by former Wellsboro High School standout Alex Marple, dropped a 56-54 heartbreaker to St. Thomas Aquinas on Dec. 30.
Under the direction of interim head coach Alison Tagliaferri, Mansfield is 3-5 on the season with wins over Houghton, Slippery Rock and Central Penn. All three wins have come at Decker Gymnasium.
Junior forward Jena Matter and freshman guard Katie Fitzpatrick lead a balanced scoring attack for the Mountaineers averaging 10.3 and 10.0 points per game respectively. The duo also tops the team in rebounding averaging 7.5 and 6.8 points per outing. Senior sharpshooter Kayla Espigh is averaging 9.6 points per game and ranks among the top 3-pointer shooters in the PSAC connecting on 14-of-38 attempts beyond the arch.
Senior forward Julia Stevenson also averages 9.6 points along with 6.4 rebounds per contest while sophomore Alyssa DeRichie is averaging 6.3 points with 21 assists.
Le Moyne is 3-7 on the year with wins over Notre Dame (Ohio) (56-55), St. Rose (71-67) and Adelphi (74-66 OT). All three victories have come at home.
The Dolphins features a young team with the top three scorers all underclassmen. Marple, a sophomore, leads the team averaging 10.9 points per game with sophomore forward Emily Greer and freshman forward Maggie Brown both averaging 10.1 points per contest.
It marks the final non-conference game of the season for the Mountaineers, who travel to Mercyhurst and Gannon this this Friday and Saturday.
