ATHENS - The Northeast Bradford Panthers inched closer to an NTL East title as they defeated Athens 1-0 on Friday afternoon.

Colton Snyder found the back of the net for Northeast Bradford with 18 minutes to go to give the Panthers the win.

Athens had 10 shots and four corners and Northeast Bradford had five shots and four corners.

James Zajac finished with five saves for Northeast Bradford, while Neil Carpenter had seven saves, including stopping a penalty kick attempt by Isiah McPherson with four minutes left in the first half.

"We really, really out played them today," Athens coach Jake Lezak said. "We wore them down, but we didn't win on the scoreboard though. Neil Carpenter played an excellent game. It's tough to walk away with a loss when we completely outplayed them in the game."

Athens hosts Towanda on Tuesday.

Sayre 2, Wellsboro 1

The Redskins got a second-half goal from Jess Hickey with 10:31 left to give them the victory on Friday.

"Wellsboro played a hard fought game," Sayre coach Tracy Mennig said. "We were lucky to come away with a win tonight. We stuck it out and played a better second half."

Wellsboro started the scoring in the game at 17:49 of the first half when Jena Reiman found the net.

Elyse Skerpon tied the game for Sayre at 4:22 off a Hickey assist.

Sarah Ostroski returned after missing a few weeks for the Redskins and had 10 saves and Meghan Bodine had two saves for Wellsboro.

Wellsboro had 14 shots and four corners and Sayre had nine shots and two corner kicks.

Mansfield 3, Williamson 0

Molly Wood opened the scoring and Brittany Crumb made it 2-0 in the first half for the Tigers.

Ali Hillson added a second-half goal in the victory.

Mansfield had 34 shots and five corners and Williamson had no shots and two corner kicks.

Kasey Powlison was in net for Mansfield and Samantha Harrington had 28 saves for Williamson.

Mansfield is at Sayre at 5:30 p.m. today.

Newark Valley 4, Tioga 0

Newark Valley got three second half goals to break open a 1-0 halftime game.

Kacie Coffin scored off an assist from Marley Norton at 36:24 of the first half and at 24:26 of the second half Cayli Young scored off a feed from Ashley Kassapian.

Norton scored at 18:57 and 9:52 to cap the scoring.

Newark Valley had 25 shots and seven corners and Tioga had four shots and two corners.

Hannah Manwaring had 15 saves for Tioga and Molly Graves had four saves for Newark Valley.
