ELMIRA, N.Y. - A rough patch in the second half doomed Notre Dame as they lost to Newark 60-39 in the Joel Stephens bracket finale of the Josh Palmer Fund boys' basketball tournament Monday.

It was tied at nine after the opening quarter with Newark taking a 22-17 lead at the half. Newark would go up 40-31 after the third before out scoring the Crusaders 20-8 in the final frame.

Tom Agan led Notre Dame with 13 points and seven boards while Nate Niles added eight points. Darius Garvin had seven points and seven boards while Hunter Thomas and Jonas McCaig had three points each. Thomas added four assists as well.

Derrick Marshall rounded out the scoring with three points.

Zerin Bratcher led Newark with 14 points.
