Notre Dame girls win IAC South Large School division title
The Notre Dame girls' track and field team won the IAC South Large School Division title on Tuesday when they defeated Newark Valley 90-47.
In the 100 hurdles Notre Dame's Jen Smithers won in 16.8 while Brittany Schutrum won the 100 in 12.7. A Crusader team of Brittany Schutrum, Mara Skordynski, Megan O'Dell and Smithers won the 4x100 relay in 53.4.
Smithers won the 400 hurdles in 1:08.6, Brittany Schutrum won the 200 in 26.6 and Mary Pelkowski won the 3000 in 11:57.2.
Notre Dame's foursome of Brittany Schutrum, Smithers, Victoria Schutrum and Deborah Diarra won the 4x400 relay in 4:16.9.
Crusader Christine Schmidt won the shot put in 29-feet, 8-inches, Erin Mozdy won the discus in 81-feet, 5-inches, Skordynski won the long jump in 13-feet, 11-inches and the high jump in 5-feet.
On the boys' side Notre Dame fell 8-53.
Crusader Carl Shen won the 100 in 11.8, the 200 in 23.9 and the long jump in 19-feet even. Matt Watkins won the shot put in 45-feet, 2-inches while Bill Marcy won the triple jump in 37-feet, 6-inches.
Newark Valley won the IAC South Large School Division boys' title with the victory.
