Notre Dame, Waverly boys notch wins
ELMIRA HEIGHTS, N.Y. - The Notre Dame boys got 18 points and six steals from Darius Garvin to lead three players in double figures in a 63-41 win over Edison.
Eric Brennan had 13 off the bench for Notre Dame and Derek Marshall finished with 11 in the game.
Jonas McCaig had seven for Notre Dame and Hunter Thomas had four, while Nate Niles and Zach Jones each had three points. Tom Agan finished with two points and 12 rebounds in the game.
McCaig had four steals and Thomas had four assists.
Brandon Michaud and Chris Becker had nine each for Edison.
Notre Dame is at Watkins Glen on Friday. The Crusaders lead the division and the Senecas are one game back.
Waverly 62, Newark Valley 43
Dylan Perry had a career-high 23 points to lead the Wolverines to the victory on Tuesday.
Alex Uhl and Tim Sutton each had 12 points for Waverly and Peyton Miller finished with eight points.
Garrett Sutryk had four points and a career-high five steals and a career-high six assists and Kyle Kinsley had two points, while Hunter Bodine had one point.
Bodine had five boards, Sutton had six rebounds and Kinsley had five rebounds.
Waverly's JV team rallied from a 17-point halftime deficit to win 65-58 in overtime. Josh Knolles and Austin Blauvelt had 14 each for Waverly.
The Wolverines host Edison on Thursday.
South Williamsport 49, Sullivan County 38
The Griffins were outscored 15-5 in the third quarter as they fell on the road Tuesday.
Conner Wylie led the Griffins with a double-double, scoring 18 points with 11 boards, along with three steals and two blocks.
Adam Szklanka had 13 for the Griffins and Jordan Beinlich had four points, while Bob Polcrack finished with three points.
Szklanka had six boards in the game.
Riley Hengler led South with 11 points.
South won the JV game 42-27. Rodriguez had 17 for the Griffins in the loss.
Sullivan County hosts CMVT today.
Newfield 66, Tioga 28
Tioga scored 13 first-quarter points, but were held to one in the second and 15 the rest of the way in the loss.
John Dougherty had 11 for Tioga and Dylan Babcock finished with four points.
Parker Hendershot and Josh Kitchart each had three points and Sam Burns, Michael Williams and Zach Worthington had two each, while Adam Zwierlein finished with one point.
Devin Cooper led Newfield with 16.
