Starting in the third inning for four straight innings the Crusaders scored 11 runs all with two outs, including three in the fourth and five in the fifth.

"We scored in consecutive innings 11 runs with two outs, it's a neat little thing to show you are never out of the game," Notre Dame coach Bill Hopkins said. "I told the guys today, that's what champions are made of that you can come back and score with two outs like that."

Joe Prunier pitched five strong innings in his first varsity start, striking out three, walking one and allowing two runs, none earned.

Tyler Boyles struck out one, walked one and allowed one hit and one earned run in one inning and Aaron Carson pitched a hitless, scoreless, inning striking out one and walking one.

"Joe I think was nervous to start the game, but he settled down and did a great job," Hopkins said. "Our defense did a great job, they turned a couple double plays. That was pretty darn good for a sophomore who had not pitched for us this year, he gave us a quality start."
