SMITHFIELD - North Rome Christian School's second half rally came up short as they fell to the Binghamton Blaze 40-32 in GFLCAA playoff basketball action Monday.

The Blaze held a narrow 11-10 first quarter lead then extended it to 23-14 at the half. Binghamton looked to put it away after the third quarter as they lead 32-22.

However, NRCS didn't go away, cutting the lead to 34-37 with four minutes left to play. That's as close as they got, though, as the Blaze ended the game on a 6-5 run to secure the win.

Leah Helmuth led NRCS with 10 points, including two threes, while Caroline Chandler added six points on two threes.

Olivia Noone scored five points, C.J. Miller added four, Larissa Altieri netted three while Emily Lykens and Cali Jennings had two points each.

Erica Lamb led Binghamton with 21 points while Courtney Wright chipped in with five. Alexis Lamb, Esther Griffith and Caylie Axtell had four points a piece with Kiersten Litz chipping in with two.

NRCS will be back at SRU today.
