Northeast Bradford boys picked up where they left off last season, winning the Cliff Robbins Invitational with 54 points on Saturday.

Jake Balchikonis, Sam Williams and Curtis Jewett went 2-3-4 while Kent Upham took seventh overall. Balchikonis ran 16:48, Williams 16:57, Jewett 17:08 and Upham 17:12.

Brandon Devonshire was the 39th at 18:42, Jesse Stroud was 148th at 25:10 and Mike Buttacavoli took 151st at 25:58.

"The boys team really opened some eyes today," Northeast coach Mike Murphy said, "Taking 4 of the top 7 places was awe inspiring. Both Jake and Sam ran faster than the winning time last year (Taylor Woznicki, who went on to win a state medal)."

On the girls' side Kayla Darling Northeast with a 44th place finish at 23:07, followed by Chelsie Souto at 55 in 23:42, Maddy Milnes in 64th at 24:06 and Cara Gerould was 89th at 25:12.

"The varsity girls ran very well, too" Murphy said, "the returning runners showed great improvement and our first timers ran a very smart race. It was an exciting day for NEB cross country."

For junior high boys the Panthers took seventh, led by Derek Allabaugh in 23rd at 11:59, followed by Levi Upham at 12:21. Also for the Panthers, Sam Beers ran 12:53, Ben Horton was 13:07, Bryton Carrington ran 13:10, Gabe Carrington was 13:34, Cole Beckwith was 14:20, Mason Merrill was 14:58, Isacc Dum ran 17:20 and Zach Darling ran 19:44 on the 3k course.

The Panther junior high girls were 10th as a team, led by Alyssa Turner in 19th at 13:45, followed by Madison Johnson in 34th at 14:12.

Also for the girls Lydia Werner was 65th at 15:20, Shelby Park was 98th at 16:20, Hailey Fisher was 127th at 18:02, Devon Russell finished 144th at 19:20, Katie Allen was 146th at 19:25, Alyson Middaugh was 148th at 19:49, Taylor Arnold was 157th at 23:30 and Taylor Barrett was 161st at 25:30.

Wyalusing was also at the Invitational, with the boys taking eighth overall.

Stephen Tewksbury led the Rams with a ninth place finish, running 17:28, while teammate Tyler Sutton was 33rd at 18:23. Also for Wyalusing, Aaron Johnson was 63rd at 19:29, Aaron Woodruff was 76th at 19:43, Brenton Gerould was 93rd at 20:04, Mitchell Pickett ran 20:18 to place 98th, Dylan Bullock ran 20:19 for 99th, Mark Kusmierz was 105th with a 20:22, Danny Shumway ran 21:08 for 133rd, Nathan Howard was 159th with a 22:18, Lawton Spencer ran 23:00 for 194th and William Cobb ran 27:29 for 236.

On the girls' side Jessica Hotaling was 49th for the Rams, running 23:26, followed by Arielle Kneller at 117th and 26:22, Savannah Schools at 118th with a 26:27 and Carlyn Edsell was 148th for 28:25.

In the junior high race Pam Kelly was 21st.

Bear Mountain Invitational

The Sayre girls team took second at the Bear Mountain Invitational at Lock Haven University Saturday.

The team was paced by Hannah Robinson with a third place finish behind a 19:59, while Katie Hurley was 10th at 21:01 and Alex Middlebrook was 11th at 21:07.

Also for the Redskins Rose Velazquez was 13th with a 21:18, Mollie Robinson was 21st with a 22:39, Katherine Porter was 29th at 23:29, Molly O'Hara was 30th 23:46, Christi Friedrichsen was 36th at 25:15, Eli Douglas was 39th at 26:24 and Molly Cole was 40th at 26:29.

"The kids really surprised me," Sayre coach Randy Felt said, "They have been training extremely hard over the past few weeks and put up some awesome times today. We are definitely ahead of where I though we would be this early."

The boys team was fourth behind Matt Romanauski's sixth place finish with a 16:27. Also for Sayre Alexander Porter was 13th at 17:05, Lorenzo Servedio was 26th at 18:19, Chris Marshall was 29th at 18:23, Andy Platt was 33rd with a 18:35, Nate Ennis was 34th with an 18:40, Jacob Kendall took 35th with an 18:40, Adam Wampole was 49th with a 19:37, Dylan Connor was 69th with a 21:13, Brent Heil was 76th with a 21:45, James Misner was 83rd with a 22:31 and Nick Friedrichsen was 98th with a 24:45.

In the two-mile junior high race Nate Romanauski set the boys record with a first place time of 10:42. Teammate Marcos Velazquez was 18th at 13:35, Reese Booth was 29th at 14:20, Philip Bennett was 33rd with a 15:48 and Tyler Gernert was 35th with a 16:08.

On the girls' side Amanda Malone was 22nd with a 19:56.

The Canton boys, girls and junior high boys all took fourth in the team standings.

Emmett Watson placed the Warrior runners with a 16:47, good enough for 11th while Julian Hinkelman was 14th with a 17:07, Brooks Gleckner was 16th at 17:29 and Blake Bunner was 17th at 17:32.

Also for the Warriors Darren Killian was 37th at 18:41, Andrew Moody was 43rd wtih a 19:12, Zach Ayrers was 51st with a 19:39, Austin Bunner was 58th with a 20:22, Zach Pettigrew was 60th with a 20:40, Lucas Abercrombie was 74th with a 21:41 and Nick Spano took 104th with a 29:28.

Kassidy Colton led the Lady Warriors with a 22:24 taking 17th while Emily Ambruch was 20th with a 22:33. Also for Canton Ashleynn Jennings was 24th with a 23:01, Brittany Walker was 26th with a 23:22, Sierra Kisinger was 38th with a 25:45, Toree Baxter was 43rd with a 26:46, Alyssa Black was 44th with a 28:07 and Alison McNett was 45th with 28:14.

Brennan Gleckner was second for the junior high boys with an 11:06, while Trevor Route was 22nd with a 13:46. Also for Canton Mickenzie Bussom was 28th with a 14:19, Michael Bacon was 31st with a 14:39, Quinlan Abercrombie was 32nd with a 15:36 and Nyan Black was 37th with a 17:50.

The Troy boys' runners finished 6th overall, led by Zack Despreaux and Kyle Robbins. Despreaux was 18th with a 17:39 while Robbins was 19th with a 17:40.

Also for Troy Zack Schonher was 52nd with a 19:40, Clint Vermilya was 53rd at 19:45, Chad Vermilya was 67th at 21:11, Braden Calkins was 77th with a 22:15, Eli Laue was 79th with a 22:21, Ben Robbins was 89th at 22:53 and Jordan Grimes was 90th at 22:54.

Casey Norton ran a personal best 20:35 to take eighth place, followed by teammate Gretta Deutschle in 14th with a 21:22. Megan Yanchuck took 31st with 23:50.

For the Troy middle school boys John Wilcox led the way with a 12:21 finish to take ninth, while teammate Kyle Petris was 16th with a 12:55. Ryan Crofut was 25th with a 14:01, Matt Bulkley was 30th for a 14:26 and Lucas Robbins was 34th with a 15:56.

On the girls' side Leah Ward was 10th with a 14:10, followed by Emma Simpson was 14th with a 15:19, Justice Brown was 16th at 15:55 and Rachel Rogers was 21st with a 16:55.
