The Sayre boys beat Shamokin 94-83 in swimming action Saturday while the girls fell 100-75.

"What a great meet today," Sayre coach James Schrader said. "Both the girls and the boys were very close most of the way through the meet. The Sayre Boys held on to win and the Girls just fell a little short."

He was pleased with some of his swimmers times.

"We had some very good times today as most of the kids continue to drop their PR's," Schrader said. "Altan Frantz also lowered his 500 Freestyle school record by nine seconds. The new record is 5:16.73. I thought Altan might have gone out a little bit fast, but he held his splits all the way through the swim. What a great job."

On the boys' side a team of Altan Frantz, Brent Heil, Lorenzo Servedio and Josh Wolcott won in 1:53.68. Frantz then won the 200 free in 1:56.57 followed by Heil taking the 200 IM in 2:27.64.

Wolcott won the 50 free in 23.69 while teammate Sam Shoemake won the diving with 201.85 points.

Servedio led a sweep of the 100 fly. He won in 1:00.35 followed by Phillip Bennett in second and Heil in third. Wolcott then won the 100 free in 53.68.

Frantz then had his record breaking win in the 500 while teammate Ryan Kipp was third. Sayre's 200 free relay team of Servedio, Heil, Wolcott and Frantz won in 1:38.40.

Servedio won the backstroke in 1:04.97 while teammate James Misner was third in the 100 breaststroke.

On the girl's side Sayre's Grace McClelland won the 200 free in 2:14.10 while teammate Katherine Porter won the 200 IM in 2:32.97.

Redskin Rachel Hurley won the 50 free in 28.16 with teammate Emily Schamel third. Courtney Bruer took second in diving with a score of 157.85.

Porter won the 100 fly in 1:02.46 with teammate Matthea Robbins third followed by Hurley winning the 100 free in 1:01.22.

McClelland won the 500 free in 5:59.99 while a Sayre 200 free relay team of Porter, Bruer, McClelland and Hurley won in 1:53.77. Bruer then took second in the backstroke.

Shamokin's Samantha Carpenter set a pool record in the 100 breaststroke in 1:11.12 with Sayre's Katrina Heil third.

Junior High

Athens swept the Junior High swimming meet on Saturday.

The boys won with 118 points while Towanda was second with 103 and Sayre took third with 76. On the girls' side Athens had 186 while Towanda was second with 134. Sayre took third with 63.

In the boys' 200 medley relay an Athens team of Andrew Juhola, Jack Houser, Jeffery Gao and Rohnin Bishop won in 2:21.51. Gao then won the 100 IM in 1:04.72.

Towanda's Ryan Haskins won the 50 free in 30.44 followed by Gao winning the 50 fly in 27.34.

Rohnin won the 100 free in 1:10.41 while Towanda's Zach Sims won the 50 backstroke in 36.87. Houser won the 50 breaststroke in 42.24 while a Wildcat relay of Shawn Shaw, Gao, Houser and Rohnin won the 200 free relay in 2:03.37.

On the girls' side Athens' relay of Katie Phykitt, Selkie Bishop, Taylor Lane and Maggie Cole won in 2:13.68.

Phykitt won the 100 IM in 1:17.83 while Bishop won the 50 free in 30.62.

Lane won the 100 fly in 29.53 and the 100 free in 1:01.56.

Phykitt won the 50 backstroke in 34.13 while Towanda's Elizabeth Schultz won the 50 breaststroke in 37.66.

Athens' team of Bishop, Cole, Lane and Phykitt won the 200 free relay in 2:03.41.
