Sayre boys shutout Townada
TOWANDA - The Sayre boys wasted little time getting their offense going on Thursday.
The Redskins got a goal just 1:03 into the game as Dan Nash found the net off a Seth Murrelle assist to help lead Sayre to an 8-0 victory over Towanda.
Adam Moore scored at 33:27 and 31:43 of the first half, the second off a Nash assist, and Murrelle scored at 13:28 on a long blast off a Moore assist to cap the first half scoring.
At 37:53 of the second half Murrelle scored again, off a Jacob Wheeler assist, and he added a goal at 35:42 to cap his hat trick, with Moore getting another assist. Cuyler Kochin found the net off assists from John Blackman and Murrelle at 29:54 and Moore capped his hat trick at 26:54 off an assist from Blackman.
John Northrup, Tony Horton and Zach Rae saw a great deal of playing time and were able to contribute to the win for Sayre and Mitch Ward, Juan Velazquez and Altan Frantz helped out on the defense as well as playing in the midfield in the win.
Sayre had 18 shots and four corners in the game and Towanda had five shots and two corner kicks.
Matt Murphy had 11 saves for Towanda and Tyler Basse had one save in net. Guiseppe Scavone had five saves in net for Sayre and Moore also spent time in net with a save.
Towanda is at Williamson on Saturday at 1 p.m.
Troy 3, Galeton 2
After a one hour rain delay the Trojans were able to pick up a big home win on Thursday.
Galeton struck first, scoring with 18 minutes left in the first half as Dakota Shadle scored, but Troy bounced back, converting a penalty kick 11 seconds later to tie the game.
The teams finished the half tied at one and Troy took the lead as Collin Binford headed the ball to Evan Polly who drove his own header into the net with 26 minutes left in the game to put the Trojans on top.
Galeton came right back as Shadle found the net off a throw in for his second goal of the game with 3:31 left on the clock.
It took little time again for Troy to answer as Jared Murray found Dane Smith for the game winning goal just 39 seconds later.
Troy had seven shots, five corner kicks and Jason Esaias had three saves. Galeton had six shots, one corner kick and four saves.
Troy won the JV game 1-0 on a goal by John Wilcox.
