The Redskins started the scoring at 19:15 of the first half when Sydney Beeman taking a pass from Jessica Hickey and lofting a shot from just inside the 18 over the goalies head to make it 1-0.

Towanda quickly answered, with Divya Patel scoring less than a minute later off a Taylor Hallabuk assist.

At 28:57 of the second half Elyse Skerpon scored off a Chloe Tracy assist, getting the 51st goal of her career.

After racking up three assists in the half Tracy got a goal with 1:55 when she got the ball at the top of the box and chipped it over the goalie's head.

Sayre had 19 shots and five corners and Towanda had six shots and no corners.

Kylie Garris had six saves for Towanda and Becca McNamara and Paige Wampole each had two for Sayre.

"Sayre is a very technically solid team and well coached," Towanda coach Dave Jurnack said. "We hung with them the first half, but fatigue and injuries played a huge role in the second half. I am proud that we never gave up and fought hard until the end. Brittany Boardman and Laciann Manning anchored a great defensive effort with Courtney Locke playing the game of her life. Lauren Risch was excellent in the midfield as usual with Taylor Hallabuk stepping up huge for us. We'll heal our wounds and try to give them a good game on Saturday."

The two teams meet again Saturday at Sayre at 10 a.m.
