Sayre's Shoemake wins district diving title
Sayre's Sam Shoemake is a district champion and will be heading to states in diving.
Shoemake won the district title at Bloomsburg on Saturday, racking up a winning score of 364.55.
Sam Jukes of Central Columbia was the second state-qualifier for District 4, finishing at 351.40, just edging Danville's Joe Gentilluci at 351.
Towanda's Tyler Basse was seventh at 240.95, followed by teammate Josh Morgan at 209.20.
On the girls side Athens' Sarah Slocum finished fifth at 295.65 and Sayre's Courtney Bruer was eighth at 259.65.
Towanda's Caroline Vana finished 11th at 211.60.
Ciana Rollman of Shamokin won at 368.60, followed by Bloomsburg's Regan Radel at 334.55.
States is March 13-14 at Bucknell University. A final list of state qualifiers for swimming will be posted by Monday. Athens' Frank Chen already qualified in two swimming events, while a number of other area swimmers are expected to earn at-large spots.
