Tioga 0, Spencer Van-Etten 0

The Tigers got 20 shots and Spencer Van-Etten had 21 shots, but the goalie came up big as the game ended in a scoreless tie.

"This was a fantastic game for our parent's recognition day," Tioga coach Jim Howey said. "The day was cold, but the field and stands were very energetic. This game had a lot of nice passing, good tactics and exciting moments. I am very happy with my team. Earlier in the season we went to Spencer and lost 6-0.

"You can see both teams had their opportunities to score, but were either thwarted by the goalkeepers, defensemen or conditions."

The seniors Tioga recognized on Saturday were Jake Martin, Dan Layman, Adam Stewart, Nate Lounsbury and Tyler Hills.

The tie creates a one-game playoff for the South Division small-school championship between Spencer VAn-Etten and Odessa-Montour.

"This game is indicative of the level of play we expect to meet in the postseason," Howey said.

The Section IV playoffs begin in two weeks for Tioga.

Donnie VanDuesn had 14 saves for Tioga and Keith Nelson finished with 12 saves for Spencer Van-Etten.

Spencer had seven corner kicks and Tioga had three corner kicks.
