MANSFIELD - BCM's comeback fell short as they lost to District 5's Mountain Top in State Senior softball action Wednesday.

BCM, out of District 15, jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the fourth but Mountain Top responded with two runs in the bottom half of the inning to take the lead. BCM tied things up in the top of the fifth.

That was short lived, though, as Mountain Top scored five runs in the bottom half of the inning to take a 7-2 advantage.

BCM rallied, scoring four runs in the top of the seventh but couldn't give a fifth to knot the game back up.

Morgan Doerner and Arielle Kneller both went 2-for-4 with a run scored to lead BCM while Lisa Saxe, Katelyn Serfass, Cierra Holland, Courtney Coleman and Brittney Smith also had hits.

Smith scored twice while Maddie Eberlin and Coleman crossed home as well.

Emily Faulkner, Serfass and Coleman all saw time in the circle for BCM. They combined for six strikeouts.

BCM plays today at noon at Mansfield University.
