Several locals make state swimming on time
Several locals made the PIAA swimming Championships on time Monday.
Athens' Frank Chen, who was an automatic qualifier in the 100 backstroke, made the 100 butterfly field on time. His 200 medley relay team, which also features Kurt Walck, Bryan Solomon and Tyler Solomon, also made it on time.
Mansfield's Jeremy Butters made two events on time, the 200 IM and the 500 free. Sayre's Altan Frantz also made the 200 IM on time with Wellsboro's Blair Carson making the 100 breaststroke field.
Other automatic qualifiers include Towanda's Blake Burlingame in the 50 free and Sayre's Katherine Porter in the 100 fly.
The fastest qualifying time for their field is Porter, whose time of 58.34 is good for fifth overall.
Burlingame has the fastest individual time of all the boys, currently tied for ninth with his time of 21.94 while Athens' relay also holds the ninth fastest qualifying time at 1:41.56.
Chen's fly time of 54.25 is good enough for 15th while his backstroke time of 54.63 has him 16th.
Butters' 500 free time of 4:52.81 is good for 14th while his 200 IM time of 2:02.69 has him 21st. Frantz's time of 2:04.03 has him 26th.
Carson's breaststroke time of 1:02.86 has him 26th overall.
