Soccer seniors take field for all-star matchups

TOWANDA - The NTL boys and girls senior soccer players took the field one last time on Sunday for the senior all-star games.

On the girls side the teams were divided between north and south and the south team came away with a 3-1 victory.

The south team took a 2-0 lead at the half as Troy's Kate Pratt scored a pair of goals and they built the lead to 3-0 when Wyalusing's Erin Goodwin scored.

Mansfield's Colleen Dempsey had a second-half goal for the north.

The boys played an east vs. west format and the east picked up the win, 5-2.

Galeton's Matt Shadle scored at 34:42 off an assist from Liberty's Mitch Pequignot to make it 1-0, but Towanda's Anthony Ventello tied things just 19 seconds later on a free kick. Athens' Isaac Clark scored at 30:33 off an assist from Sayre's Josh Burlingame to make it a 2-1 east lead.

Pequignot scored with 7:28 left in the half to make it a tie game at the half. Pequignot's goal came 10 minutes after Athens goalie David Munn made a diving stop on a Pequignot penalty kick.

Troy's Jordan Brunelle started things in the second half at 38:48 off a Ventello assist and Brunelle scored again at 22:16 off an assist from Troy teammate Brandon Cole to make it 4-2.

Athens' Pat Riley got the final score off an assist from Cole.
