Katie McFadden placed sixth in the 500m freestyle while the Mansfield University swim team set several personal best times on the first day of the Pidgeon Memorial Invitational Thursday.
McFadden started the day by taking over 10 seconds off her personal best time in the 500m freestyle prelims for a sixth place finish at 5:27.79.
In the 500m finals, McFadden again set a personal best time with her mark of 5:25.48 to place sixth overall out of 29 swimmers.
Anastasia Joswick and Sarah Estes also set personal bests in the 500m prelims on their way to qualifying for finals. Joswick took over 17 seconds off her PR to finish at 5:38.30 while Estes dropped 26.35 seconds to finish at 5:42.25.
Lindsey Gregg set a PR in the 200m IM prelims with her mark of 2:25.73 to qualify for finals. Gregg shaved over a second off her prelim time in the finals to take 10th at 2:24.36.
Another personal best time was set when Amani Khabeer qualified for finals in the 50m freestyle with her time of 26.10. In the final heat, Khabeer finished 11th overall at 26.42.
Day two of the invitational begins today at 10 a.m.
