The Sullivan County Griffins needed overtime to do it, but they wrapped up their regular season with a victory on Wednesday night, defeating Benton 40-33 in overtime.

Sullivan County led 14-9 at the half and 25-17 after three, but Benton outscored the Griffins 12-3 to end the game and Ethan Lockard hit a three to force overtime for host Benton.

In the overtime period Sullivan County's Conner Wylie started the Griffins on the right foot with back-to-back baskets inside. Sullivan went up six before a Lockard three cut the deficit to three, but that's as close as it got in overtime.

"We did a good job of getting the ball inside and made a couple of clutch free throws to win it," Sullivan County coach Glenn Vaughan said.

Wylie had a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds and Adam Szklanka had nine points and six boards, with four assists and four steals, and Bob Polcrack finished with six points and seven boards.

Bobby Frank had four for the Griffins and Jordan Beinlich finished with three points.

Lockard led Benton with 19.

Sullivan County finishes the regular season 17-5 and 9-5 in the Heartland and will await the start of districts where they will be the three seed in class A.

Sullivan won the JV game 43-30. Miguel Rodriguez and Tyler Lovelady led the Griffins with 15 each.

Galeton 69, Liberty 60

Galeton held off Liberty to lock up the second seed in Class A districts.

It was a close game throughout, but 7-for-8 free throw shooting from Dakota Shadle in the fourth helped lock up the Galeton win.

Bob Williams had 23 and Shadle had 19, while McKinly Ward had 12 for Galeton. Mitchell Smith finished with eight, while Jake Batterson had seven in the win.

Liberty got 18 from J.J. Walker and 16 each from Cody Schmouder and Dalton Litzelman.

Dillon Ford had six and Sergey June and Harley Kilmer each had two.

Liberty won the JV game 39-38.
