Sullivan County boys, girls cross country go 2-2
The Sullivan County girls and boys cross country teams each went 2-2 in a meet at Shikellamy on Wednesday.
For the girls, Danville beat Sullivan 15-49 and Shikellamy won 26-29, while the Griffins beat Mifflinburg 22-33 and Midd-West 23-34.
Tracy Cedero of Shikellamy won in 20:13, followed by Danville's Mackenzie Jones (20:16), Emily Hainey (21:17) and Hannah Meize (21:48). Mifflinburg's Sarah Lennon was next in 21:59, followed by Danville's Mikayla Poamran (22:30), Abby Sees (23:01) and Kaitlyn Maffai (23:16).
The Griffins' Alexis Kiess was ninth in 23:23, followed by Danville's Maddy Messa (23:25).
Sullivan County's Bridget Paonassa was 11th in 24:18, Bethany Lambert was 16th in 25:56, Mackenzie Doyle was 21st in 27:02 and Olivia Morgan took 25th in 27:30.
For the boys, the Griffins beat Midd-West 17-41 and Shikellamy 25-30. They fell to Danville 25-33 and Mifflinburg 26-31.
Kelby Mullen of Sullivan County won in 17:18, followed by Danville's Tyler Vella (17:34), Mifflinburg's Quincy Amabila (17:53) and Logan Stainer (18:15), Danville's Alex Mettler (18:32), Mifflinburg's Adam Miller (18:40) and Shikellamy's Aaron Schafer-Neets (18:49).
The Griffins' Lucas Hatton was eighth in 18:52, followed by Danville's Chris Malefronte (18:56) and Shikellamy's Wyatt Kohn (19:05).
Sullivan County's Jordan Beinlich was 11th in 19:05, Bob Polcrack was 16th in 19:21 and Tom Choplick was 30th in 21:37.
The Sullivan County boys are 13-7 and the girls are 12-7.
In the boys junior high race, the Griffins beat Mifflinburg 21-34 and Danville won 28-29. The Griffins' Taylor Baldwin won in 11:54 and teammate Liam Molyneux was third in 12:22.
For the girls, Mifflinburg and Danville each beat the Griffins 15-50. J. Cordeiro of Shikellamy won the girls race in 12:43 and the Griffins' Danielle Reeser was 18th in 16:05.
The Sullivan County junior high boys finish the regular season 11-2 and they run in the Lewisburg Middle School Classic on Saturday, while the varsity teams host Troy and Hughesville at 10 a.m. Saturday.
