Sullivan County girls fourth at Shik Classic
The Sullivan County girls' cross-country team was fourth at the 36th Annual Shik Classic Saturday.
They tied with Montoursville at 204 points but their sixth runner beat the Warrior's sixth runner to give the Griffins' their best ever finish.
Bethany Lambert let the way, taking 22nd in 21:55 while Bridget Paonessa was 36th in 23:10, Mackenzie Doyle was 46th in 24:11, Emily McMahon was 47th in 24:13, Alexis Keiss was 53rd in 24:25, Kelly Kramer was 62nd in 25:12 and Taylor Hull was 64th in 25:21.
Danville girls won with 34 points while Lewisburg was second with 53.
On the boys' side Sullivan County was ninth with 248 points.
Bob Polcrack led the way, taking 27th in 17:55 while Tom Choplick was 34th in 18:13.
Also for the Griffins, Jordan Beinlich was 42nd in 18:42, Liam Molyneux was 65th ini 19:38, Tanner McCarty was 78th in 20:29, Jon Pedro was 82nd in 20:37 and Jordan Pedro was 83rd in 20:39.
Mt. Carmel won with 63 points while Danville was second with 76.
In the boys' JV race Sullivan's Taylor Baldwin was 13th to earn a medal.
Kelsey Frank had a top 15 finish to lead the Waverly girls to a 12th place finish at the Marathon Invitational Saturday.
The Wolverines amassed 274 points in the seeded race as Frank was 12th in 20:45.5.
Mount Saint Dominic Academy won with 45 points while West Genesee was second with 65.
Kaylee Uhl was 53rd in 22:20.3, Katelyn Moore was 78th in 23:53.1, Katie Dibble was 93rd in 26:52.1 and Deanna Chandler finished 94th in 27:03.3.
The Waverly boys were 14th with 366 points. West Genesee won with 57 while Maine-Endwell was second with 60.
Randy Chandler was 41st in 18:23.4 to lead the Wolverines while Collin Traub was 57th in 18:41.2.
Garrett Sutryk was 88th in 19:38.4, Mark Krause was 96th in 19;57.7, Hunter Bodine was 107th in 21:41.7, Brody Sprauge was 109th in 22:32.5 and Kasey Madigan was 111th in 24:04.6.
