Sullivan County softball tops Millville
The Sullivan County Griffins picked up their fourth win of the year on Thursday, defeating Millville 16-0 in three innings.
Alyssa Blasi threw a no-hitter for Sullivan County, striking out one and walking one in the game.
At the plate Blasi had two hits and scored two runs, and defensively had for put-outs, while Torie Shultz had a hit and scored two runs.
Shelby Zeller had a pair of hits, with a double, four RBI and three runs scored and Brianna Baumunk had two hits, two RBI and two runs scored.
Mackenzie Doyle had two hits, with a double, an RBI and two runs cored and Addie Jordan, Courtney Leahy, Emily McMahon, Shawna Chamberlain, Kayla Magargle and Carly Lewis all scored runs in the game, with Jordan getting two RBI and Leahy and Magargle having an RBI each.
In the first Mackenzie Doyle caught a line drive for a double play at first and Baumunk caught a fly ball in center to end the inning.
The Griffins scored eight times in the first with 13 batters coming to the plate. Magargle hit a sacrifice fly to bring home Jordan for the fourth run of the inning, Alexis Kiess then batted in two runs and Zeller capped the scoring in the inning.
Blasi walked the first hitter in the second and then struck out the next batter and got assists on the next two outs to end the inning.
In the second inning Zeller had a double to key the inning.
After St. John Neumann forfeited to the Griffins, Sullivan County is now 4-4 in the Mid Penn League with two games left this Saturday against Millville, beginning at 11 a.m.
