A nine-run second inning doomed Sullivan County in their 18-3 loss to Benton in Heartland Conference softball action Tuesday.

The Griffins led 2-0 after the top half of the first inning but the Tigers responded with four runs in the bottom half. After holding Sullivan scoreless in the second Benton rattled off nine runs to take a 13-2 lead.

Sullivan added a run in the third but five more by Benton gave them the win.

Alyssa Blasi had a strikeout and 11 walks in the loss.

At the plate, Addie Jordan had two hits, including a double, with one runs scored and stole home.

Shelby Zeller, Brianna Baumunk and Kayla Margargle also had singles while Torie Shultz added a sacrifice.

Sullivan will travel to Bloomsburg on Thursday.
