Sullivan tops Millville

MILLVILLE - The Griffins held Millville scoreless to start the second half and rallied for a 38-27 Heartland Conference girls' basketball win Wednesday.

The Quakers held a 17-15 advantage at the half but a 14-0 third in favor of the Griffins secured the win for them.

Justine McCarty led Sullivan with 10 points while Addie Jordan added eight. Cortney Rupert scored seven, Shelby Zeller had five while Alyssa McDonald and Meredith Lambert scored four points a piece.

Maci Bower led Millville with 12 while Clarissa Fuoss added eight.

There was no JV game.

Sullivan will host St. John Neumann Saturday with a 1 p.m. start.

Wellsboro 52, Mansfield 48

MANSFIELD - A late technical foul called against the Tigers gave the Hornets an opening and they took it.

Up by two with 10 seconds left a technical foul was called against Mansfield after a foul was called on the Tigers.

Wellsboro made the four ensuing free throws to go up by two and that proved to the be the difference in the NTL West girls' basketball game Wednesday.

Wellsboro led 14-7 after the first quarter but a 14-4 run by Mansfield in the second gave them a 21-18 halftime lead.

The Hornets fired back in the third, out scoring Mansfield 19-13 to take a 37-34 lead into the fourth quarter.

Andrea Dean led Wellsboro with 16 points and seven boards while Hannah Zuchowski had 13 points and five rebounds.

Mackenzie Marple added 10 points and six assists while Mikayla Palmer-Bacon added six points. Raina Rogers scored five with five steals while Taylor Acorn scored two.

Emily James led Mansfield with 19 points while Jackie Hillson scored 13 and Molly Wood added nine. Rounding out the Tigers' scoring was Maddie York with five while Felicia Bolt added two.

Cowanesque Valley 65, Williamson 23

The Indians broke open a close game in the second quarter to stay undefeated in NTL West basketball play Wednesday.

CV led 8-3 after one, then out scored Williamson 57-20 over the next three quarters for the win.

Stephanie Painter led CV with 18 points while Renee Farman added 14 and Carley Murdock scored 12. Mikayla Andrews added seven while Haily Painter and Blaire Williams scored six points each. Amanda Painter scored two to round out the Indians' scoring.

CV had 18 assists as a team in the game.

Cheyenne Jones led Williamson with 15 while Lori Horton scored four. McKenna Greenwalt added two while Kim Daugherty and Jamie Cook had one point each.

CV won the JV game behind 12 points from Grace Earle.

The Indians host Sayre next Tuesday.
