TCC names Kurcoba as new head golf pro
The Towanda Country Club is excited to welcome Kevin Kurcoba as its new Head Golf Professional. Kevin has already started and welcomes the local community to stop over to the Towanda Country Club Pro Shop and introduce yourself.
Kevin graduated from Elmira Free Academy in 1992 as an all-conference golfer, a starter on the 1992 New York State Final Four EFA basketball team, and headed to Division 1 Niagara University on a baseball scholarship. Kevin was also a four year player on the men's golf team at Niagara where he became the first golfer ever to qualify for the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Association golf tournament in 1994.
Kevin Graduated in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Hotel/Restaurant, Travel/Tourism management from Niagara University. He then moved to Miami, Fla., where he served as an assistant golf pro for the Miami Beach golf courses and in 1998, passed his player ability exam for the PGA of America. In 2000 Kevin moved back to New York and was hired as the assistant golf professional at Corning CC. In June of 2001, Kevin won a CNYPGA Assistant's stroke play event with a 69 at Ithaca CC. In 2004, while serving as the assistant golf pro at the Villa Roma GC, Kevin qualified for the Metropolitan Open at Hudson National GC with a 72 at Rockland CC. In 2005, Kevin was named the Employee of the Year at the Villa Roma Resort and Conference Center.
In 2006 Kevin was inducted into the Elmira Free Academy Athletic high school Hall of Fame. Later that season, he became the assistant golf professional at Glenmaura National GC in Moosic, PA. In 2007, Kevin qualified as an alternate for the Nationwide Tour's NEPA Classic event at Glenmaura National GC. Seven years as the assistant pro at Glenmaura is where Kevin feels he truly developed the skills necessary to be a Head Golf Professional.
Kevin also competes in the Geisinger Hospital Children's Miracle Network Pro-Am at Frosty Valley CC and the Martha Lloyd Foundation Pro-Am at Corey Creek because he enjoys giving back to the local communities.
Kevin looks forward to bring his qualities of sportsmanship, hard work, and enthusiasm to the Towanda Country Club. He promises to be fully committed to the bright future of an already wonderful golf club and can't wait to get involved with the local community. Just a reminder that the Towanda Country Club is open to the public and Kevin welcomes everyone to stop by to see how you can incorporate golf into your life to relieve some stress, get some exercise and have some fun.
