Three-point barrage lifts Sayre to win
SAYRE - The Redskins hit 13 three-pointers on their way to a 71-29 victory over Williamson on Monday night.
Elyse Skerpon led the Sayre aerial attack, hitting six threes on her way to a game-high 20 points and Mollie Robinson had five threes and 17 points.
Kelsey Young finished with 11 points in the win and Katie Hurley and Kelly Villanti each had nine points, while Kristyn Tappan had three points and Adrienne Malorzo finished with two points.
Young had five boards and five steals, Robinson had a double-double, adding 10 assists and Skerpon had three assists and three steals, while Villanti added three steals.
Williamson was led by Cheyenne Jones with seven points and Kim Daugherty and Lori Horton each had six points. Nikki Hurler and Mykenna Greenwalt each finished with five points.
Sayre won the JV game 31-20 with Tappan leading the way with 19 points.
NEB 40, Wellsboro 30
The Panthers picked up their second win in a row against one of the top NTL West teams, winning on the road on Monday night.
Haylie Phillips led the Panthers with 12 points and Calle Martin finished with 10 points. Alyssa Coon had eight points in the game and Kelsey Carlsen finished with six points, while Maddy Johnson added four points.
Wellsboro was led by Mackenzie Marple with 14 points and Kim Acorn finished with eight points. Taylor Acorn had four points in the game and Hannah Zuchowski and Andrea Dean both finished with two points.
Marple had seven boards and four steals and Kim Acorn had five steals.
Athens 41, Mansfield 38
The Wildcats held off the Tigers on Monday night, getting 14 points from Christin Dunkling and 11 from Monica Dougherty in the victory.
Danielle Stopper had seven points for the Wildcats and Jensen Dunkling had three points, while Mackenzie Hafer, Alycia Ramsey and Rachael Donnelly all had two points.
Mansfield got 21 from Emily James and 11, with eight boards, from Jackie Hillson. Molly Wood and Maddie York had two points each in the game and Simone Lichty finished with one point.
Athens won the JV game 35-12. Jensen Dunkling had 11 points and Mackenzie Warner finished with eight for Athens.
Troy 51, Galeton 40
The Trojans got 13 points from Vanessa Benson and 12 each from Faith Ceely and Kelsey Bristol in the victory.
Brooke Mattocks had eight points for Troy and Taylor Johnston finished with four points, while Kayla Stephani had two points.
Ceely had four assists, six boards and four steals and Johnston had 13 rebounds and three steals. Bristol had six steals and Mattocks had five boards.
Galeton was led by Mitaya McPherson with 17 points and Andi Leach and Latasha Shadle had seven points each. Mikayla Cochran had six points and Nicole Reeves had three points in the game.
Galeton won the JV game.
Troy is at Cowanesque Valley on Wednesday.
Canton 75, North Penn 52
The Warriors got 24 points from Becca Machmer and 20 from Kaitlin Meyer in the victory on Monday.
Jada Smith had 10 points for Canton and Rachel Holmes and Makenzy Route each finished with eight points, while Chelsey Heatley had four points and Kiana Binford added two points.
Holmes had 12 boards and six steals in the game and Machmer had nine rebounds and four steals, while Smith and Route each had nine rebounds. Meyer had six rebounds and three steals.
North Penn was led by Kaitlyn Gaverick with 16 points and Whitney Holdren with 15 points. Rebecca Toothaker had 11 points in the game and Kristen Berguson had six points, while Alex Mendes finished with four points and Meredith Kline had two points.
North Penn won the JV game 31-19. Mariah Berguson led the Panthers with 11 and Kellsy Ross led Canton with eight.
Wyalusing 66, Liberty 43
Laci Holdren, Mackenzie Martin and Alexis Daly all hit double digits in scoring to lead the Rams.
Holdren paced the Rams with 17 points followed by Daly with 15 and Martin with 10. Also scoring for the Rams were Arielle Kneller with eight, Kasey DeVoir with six, Kayleen Sutton with four and Sydney Snyder, Savannah Schools and Courtney Eberlin with two each.
Daly led the Rams with 11 rebounds followed by Kneller with nine, Sutton with six, Kasey DeVoir, Martin and Schools each with three and Holdren, Snyder, Eberlin and Veronica Morrison with one each.
Daly and Kneller each logged one blocked shot each.
Holdren had a team-high three assists followed by Martin, Eberlin and Kneller with one each.
Holdren paced the Rams with six steals while Sutton chipped in with four, Eberlin had three and Kasey DeVoir, Morrison and Kneller each had one.
Brook Scott-Knecht paced the Mounties in scoring with a game-high 21 points followed by Ashley Graham with six, Megan Hawk with five, Desiree McGovern with four, Brittany Bickhart with three and Nicole Black and Kelsey Harer with two each.
Wyalusing won the JV game 53-19 as Alley DeVoir led the team with 18 points, Veronica Morrison followed with nine and Kayleen Sutton chipped in with seven.
Brittany Bickhart led the Mounties with seven points while Malorey Sponenburg added four.
The Rams will be back in action on Friday when they play host to the Galeton Tigers.
BOYS
Sullivan County 58, Bucktail 35
The Griffins got a huge game from Sharif Welton as they picked up the road win Monday night.
Welton was 10-for-13 from the field for 23 points and added nine rebounds, five assists, four steals and two blocked shots in the game.
Zach Meyer had 10 points for Sullivan County and Connor Wylie had eight points, while Kelby Mullen and Dalton Molyneux each finished with seven points.
Derek Wilkins had two points in the game and Lucas Hatton added one points.
Mullen had six assists for the Griffins.
Sullivan County won the JV game 38-27. Bob Polcrack led the Griffins with 14 points in the game.
