The Tioga field hockey team picked up a 1-0 victory over Owego in their Play for a Cure game on Wednesday, avenging an earlier loss.

Tioga got their goal with 18:20 left in the game as Sierra Beebe scored off an assist from Amanda Hunt off a corner.

Tioga had nine shots and nine penalty corners and Owego had four shots and 11 corners. Kirsten Douglas had three saves for Tioga and Bri Ulrich had eight saves for Owego.

"This was a big win for us tonight," Tioga coach Heather Klossner said. "Last time it came down to strokes and tonight Owego made a last minute run that gave them several corners and took us into extended play. Kylee Dow had a huge part in shutting Owego down and our goalie Kirsten Douglas had some nice saves.

"Offensively we moved the ball well. We were missing three of our starters due to injury and sickness so for the girls to rally together and get the win is huge. We need to continue to play well as we only have three games left. Friday's parents' night game against Moravia is a very important game for us. We need to win."
