Tioga graduate David Ulrich of Onondaga baseball recently received the 2012 Collegiate and High School Rawlings Gold Glove Award.

The Rawlings Gold Glove award honors outstanding defensive play in the Major Leagues, collegiate and high school levels.

"Defense is the cornerstone of the Rawlings brand and we're excited that it's being recognized and rewarded at all levels of play," said Rawlings President and General Manager Robert Parish. "The 2012 Rawlings Collegiate and High School Gold Glove Award recipients are incredibly talented and are well on their way to earning a place amongst the most famous defensive greats in the game."

Nomination and voting for the Rawlings Collegiate Gold Glove Awards mirrors that of the ABCA's Rawlings College All-American Awards.

Coaches can nominate players by contacting their regional chair. The selection process will culminate at the three divisions' national baseball tournaments.

Ulrich, ranked fifth in the nation last season for runs batted in, was one of nine recipients of the award in entire NJCAA for Division III.

He'll continue to play for the team when Onondaga launches its 2013 campaign in March.
