LAWRENCEVILLE - The Towanda Black Knights junior high girls' basketball team entered Saturday's NTL Junior High Basketball Tournament knowing they would need a big day if they wanted a chance to win.

Towanda had two league wins during the regular season, however, they won three times on Saturday to capture the title, defeating Northeast Bradford 19-17 in the final.

Megan Paulish picked the perfect time to score her only points of the game, hitting a jumper with 16 seconds left and the game tied at 17.

Ali Daum led Towanda with six and Lindsey Leljidal had three points.

Brittany Davis, Paulish, Elana Johnson and Kinslee Kriner had two points each.

Jo Haverly led NEB with nine points and Megan Brown had four, while Cassie Martin and Annie Williams had two points each.

Wellsboro topped Williamson 'A' in the third place game and in the fifth-place game Northern Potter topped North Penn.

Cowanesque Valley beat Williamson 'B' in the seventh-place game.
